(The book) ‘Al Amaali’ of Al Sadouq – Al Husayn Bin Ali Bin Ahmad Al Saaig, from Ahmad Al Hamdany, from Ja’far Bin Abdullah, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ibn Ri’ab, from Muhammad Bin Qays, ‘From Abu Ja’far Muhammad Bin Ali Al-Baqir-asws who said: ‘One day Rasool-Allah-saww prayed Salat Al-Fajr with his-saww companions. Then he-saww seated with them narrating to them until the sun emerged, so man after man stood up (and left) until there did not remain with him‑saww except two men, an Ansari and a Saqafy. Rasool-Allah-saww said to them: ‘I-saww know that there is a need for you both, you want to ask me-saww about. If you like I-saww can inform you of your needs before you ask me, and if you like, you can ask me! ’
They said, ‘But, you-saww inform us, O Rasool-Allah-saww, for that would be more enlightening for the blind, and further from the doubts, and most affirming for the Eman! ’
Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘As for you, O brother of the Ansaar, you are from a people are preferring (others) over their own selves, [59: 9], and you are a villager, and this Saqafy is a Bedouin. Will you prefer him with the asking? ’
He said, ‘Yes’. Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘As for you, O brother of Saqeef, you have come to ask me about your Wud’u (ablution), and your Salat, and what Rewards there are for you in these. Know that when you strike your hand in the water and say, ‘In the Name of Allah-azwj’, the sins which your hands have earned (drop off and) scatter away. When you wash your face, the sins which your eyes have earned by their looking, and your mouth with its utterances, scatter away. When you wash your forearms, the sins scatter away from your right hand and your left hand. When you wipe your head and feet, the sins you have walked upon your feet scatter away. So, this is for you regarding your Wud’u’. When you stand to (perform) the Salat and pay attention, and read Mother of the Book (Surah Al Fatiha and whatever is easy for you from the (other) Surahs, then perform Ruk’u, so you complete its Ruk’u and its Sajdah, and you perform Tashahhud and Salaam, it is Forgiven for you every sin in what is between you and between the Salat which had preceded
